Dr Roy Nicholson obtained his medical degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 1983. He subsequently completed his residency at Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincents Hospital, Melbourne in 1984.
In 1990-94 Dr Nicholson completed higher surgical training in Otolaryngology at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, St Vincents Hospital Melbourne and the Royal Melbourne Hospital. In 1994-96 he completed further specialist training in Head and Neck surgery in the United States acquiring a Fellowship of the American Society of Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr Nicholson has published articles and book chapters in the fields of ENT and Head and Neck surgery. He is an invited lecturer in these fields and attends several major international surgical meetings each year.
Dr Nicholson is a Fellow of the Australian College of Surgeons, the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the American Society of Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Head and Neck Surgeons and Ohio State University Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery alumni. He is also a reviewer for the Australian Journal of Surgery and supervises ENT surgical training in Victoria.
Dr Nicholson holds consultant surgeon appointments at St John of God Hospital Geelong, St John of God Hospital Ballarat, Geelong Private Hospital and The Geelong Hospital.
